Phil Calvert

Phil has a long-standing passion for marginalized communities and social justice causes. He was the National Director of Development for International Justice Mission Canada, the Canadian arm of the largest anti-slavery/human trafficking organization in the world. In June of 2019, Phil spoke at TEDx YYC about the need to protect children online. Phil has also consulted on two different National Bills about online child protection and supply chain transparency. He has held executive-level positions at IJM Canada, The Heritage Park Society and now with The Mustard Seed, where he leads the Fundraising, Grants, Community & Volunteer Engagement teams.

Brent Trask

Brent Trask joined The Mustard Seed leadership team as Chief Impact Officer in April 2024. Brent’s business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit and ministerial passion effortlessly blend, showcasing him as an influential executive leader, community grower, and changemaker. He is a futurist who loves to help people and organizations see and realize their deepest dreams. He is a compelling and articulate communicator, with ample experience in training, church, and business settings. Prior to joining the Mustard Seed, Brent served in various leadership capacities in local, regional, and national church and non-profit settings. Throughout his career, Brent has remained steadfast in his commitment to providing strategic direction and support to church, community groups, and leaders- helping them achieve mission-driven goals. Today, he continues to share his strategic expertise and zeal for service in support of The Mustard Seed’s efforts to eliminate homelessness and reduce poverty wherever we serve.

Mike Cabiltes

Mike is a Community Engagement Coordinator at The Mustard Seed in Edmonton. He has a background in pastoring youth, community kids and youth programming, and shelter work. As part of the Community Engagement team, Mike brings awareness of the issues of homelessness and poverty in Edmonton to students and how they can be part of the change our city needs. He is experienced in speaking with younger audiences and bringing education on tougher subjects in age-appropriate ways.

Dani Bolduc

Dani Bolduc is the Community Development Specialist in our Medicine Hat Mustard Seed location. Partnering with The Mustard Seeds vision is to help eliminate homelessness and reduce poverty where we serve, she helps shine a light on areas that may have been overlooked and brings understanding to anyone who is curious about learning how we support those in vulnerable circumstances. Daily she works on interacting with the community, engaging with donors, educating the different generations and organizations, along with equipping volunteers for the services provided within Medicine Hat.

Jon Hildebrandt

Jonathan Hildebrandt is the Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator at The Mustard Seed, serving the communities of Red Deer and Central Alberta. With a deep commitment to social impact and community development, Jonathan plays a key role in fostering meaningful connections between volunteers, community partners, and the vulnerable populations supported by The Mustard Seed. Jonathan has held five diverse roles with The Mustard Seed in both Calgary and Red Deer, gaining valuable experience across frontline services. This broad exposure has equipped him with a well-rounded understanding of the complex challenges facing individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and marginalization.

Through years of hands-on service, Jonathan has developed a heart for service and a deep respect for the dignity and resilience of the people he serves.

Kendra Sledding

Kendra Sledding is the Community Development Specialist at The Mustard Seed in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She's lived in the area since 2000, serving in both non-profit and corporate organizations. Her role allows her to draw on her strengths of connection and communication as she engages with the community on topics including Homelessness and Poverty, and Engaging Vulnerable Populations through events, facility tours, and presentations. These local connections increase understanding of who The Mustard Seed is, how they are serving vulnerable populations with faith-based approaches to social services, and how partnership with TMS increases the impact of the work, including the vital role of volunteering.

Krista Dawn

Krista-Dawn Kimsey is the Community Engagement Specialist with The Mustard Seed. She has three decades of experience in non-profit work among marginalized communities in North America and overseas. Because of the tremendous gifts and skills to be learned, she has intentionally chosen to live and raise her family in under-resourced neighbourhoods all her adult life, moving to Pleasant Hill on Treaty 6 land 2 years ago from the unceded territory of the Coast Salish people. She is excited to listen and learn alongside any community that wants to collaborate for the thriving of all its residents.

Byron Bradley

Byron has served in a variety of roles from the overnight shelter to senior leadership in fund development across his 22 years with the organization. One of his most recent responsibilities was as Managing Director where Byron and his talented team opened a new Mustard Seed ministry centre in Red Deer Alberta in 2016. He received his B.Th/DipMin while studying abroad in Sydney, Australia at Exclesia College. Byron’s passion for caring for and walking with people impacted by poverty began in Australia in 2000 and his advocacy and love continues to grow. Byron has served and continues to serve on community, education and ministry boards as he strongly believes in putting his faith into action in his local community. He is passionate to speak on many subjects around loving and caring for the vulnerable in your community, leadership, fundraising and how to build trusted relationships across diverse sectors.

Rebecca Trask

A born and raised Calgarian, Rebecca now finds herself living in Edmonton and cheering for the Oilers! Having worked previously with international relief and development organizations and the local church, she joined the team at The Mustard Seed in 2022 as their Community and Volunteer Engagement Manager. Rebecca loves being able to work at an organization that helps to build hope and wellbeing through Jesus’ love while also providing care and support at a local level to some of our most vulnerable and in need citizens. Her work at The Mustard Seed enables her to connect with churches, community groups and businesses to share about poverty and homelessness and invite them to partner with the organization to build hope in the lives of those they are serving. Rebecca is well versed in sharing and communicating with groups of all sizes and all ages and is a skilled speaker, teacher and facilitator. She helps to add vibrancy to whatever room she is invited into and will leave your group with a greater sense of understanding, connection and next steps to supporting what The Mustard Seed is committed to.
